Seana Lowe Steffen, PhD

Founder and CEO

Seana Lowe Steffen, PhD, is founder and CEO of the Restorative Leadership Institute (RLI), which cultivates leadership and enterprise that fulfills humanity’s potential to thrive in balance with all life. Seana brings nearly 25 years of experience in strategic consulting, capacity building, leadership and organizational development. Her client community spans sectors and continents including Tostan, The Sustainability Consortium, National Civilian Community Corps, Hewlett Packard, Denver Water, and the Carter Center.

Seana has trained and consulted throughout the United States and the world in settings such as Senegal, Mexico, and Rwanda. Her awards include ETown National Public Radio’s “E-chievement Award” for making a lasting difference in the community and beyond, and Mortar Board’s “Outstanding Professor” award. She also was a nominee for the Ford Foundation “Leadership for a Changing World Award,” but is most proud to have received a customized “Most Likely to Remind Us of Our Greatness” award from her university students. In public service, Seana co-founded Explore Expeditionary Learning School, which received the first Colorado Education “Commissioner’s Choice Award for Getting Results,” and Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, the first rural regional youth corps in the country and a recipient of White House recognition for positive development in the Southwest. Currently she chairs the World Pulse Global Advisory Network and serves on the B Corp Colorado Leadership Council.

As an educator and social ecologist, Seana formerly worked as faculty at the University of Colorado at Boulder where she founded INVST Community Studies and directed award-winning educational programs to benefit humanity and the environment. She also taught as core faculty with the University of Colorado’s Sustainable Practices Program and at Naropa University. Seana was a founding member of the Community Resource Center’s “Coaching Capacity Initiative” serving Colorado’s not-for-profits, and currently teaches at the Omega Institute’s Women’s Leadership Center.

Seana received her PhD in Sociology from the University of Colorado, and BA degrees in Psychology and French from Denison University. In addition, she was a Fellow at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, received her Executive Certificate in Sustainable Management from the Presidio Graduate School, and is a United Nations Certified Climate Change Trainer. Seana also holds certifications in Gestalt psychotherapy, and Ashtanga and Kundalini yoga instruction. She is a published scholar conducting participatory action research in the fields of education, leadership, sustainability, community development and social change, with the distinction of having served on a quick-response national research team following September 11th.

Mary Adams, M.A.

Director of Development

Mary has an extensive background as an educator, administrator, executive, and activist, with over 30 years of experience in human, business and community development. A pervasive theme throughout her career has been working with disenfranchised populations to develop their unique gifts, educational goals and leadership capabilities to become more active participants in their communities. 

Mary is the former Executive Director and Director of Development for a national education organization serving post-secondary students with a variety of learning disabilities, and has led at state and national levels in the field of Adult and Family Literacy. She served on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Adult Education Professionals Association and the Southwest Women's Political Coalition, and established the Educational Foundation for Independence, a 501c3 dedicated to providing access to specialized educational services for students with learning and developmental disabilities.

Mary received her master’s degree in Higher Education: Leadership and Organizational Change from the University of Denver. In addition to her role with RLI, she consults for her local Chamber of Commerce. She continues to lead and serve on multiple committees and volunteer boards in her community, and pursue her passion for international travel at every opportunity.

 

Sierra Brashear, M.A.

Director of Communications

Sierra is a writer, entrepreneur and content marketing specialist. Her commitment to elevating women's roles in ensuring global sustainability and collective wellbeing is present throughout both her professional and personal life.

In addition to her work with RLI, Sierra is Founder and President of Vibrant Souls, a Boulder-based company that seeks to elevate ancient wisdom for women’s wellness, and Secretary for the Board of Directors of the non-profit Midwife International. Previously, Sierra worked on communications and development teams for purpose-driven organizations including the University of Colorado Environmental Center, Global Greengrants Fund, Birth Institute and Un Mundo, among others. Sierra has also worked on environmental, global health and women’s leadership projects in Africa, Central America and at home in Colorado. In her free time she loves to garden, travel, attend births as doula, and dance under the stars.

Sierra holds a BA in Environmental Policy from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MA in Natural Resources and Environmental Security from the United Nations Mandated University for Peace.

 

Jamie Rezmovits, J.D.

Chair, Global Advisory Network

Jamie is an attorney at Scheitler & Podboy, P.C.  She is a native of Denver and earned both her Juris Doctorate and her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado.  

Jamie was a Director of Kenya Peace Partnerships (KPP), which created opportunities for leadership development and increased civic engagement for women and young people in Kenya following the 2008 presidential election. Additionally, Jamie recently served as the Chair of the Board of Directors for Un Mundo, an international development organization working in Honduras, and the Chair of the Board of Directors for Mpowered, a Denver-based financial education non-profit.

As an educator, Jamie has provided transformative learning opportunities for students from all over the world. At the University of Colorado, she worked as a faculty member for the INVST Community Studies department where she trained community leaders to work for the benefit of humanity and the environment. She taught with the Civic Education Program at Northwestern University where she combined education and community service to promote civic responsibility among young people.  As an international trip leader with LEAP  Now, she fostered global and cross-cultural knowledge and understanding.

Jamie is a filmmaker and artist and believes in using the arts as a tool for social and environmental change.

Ian Christie

Investigating issues of policy and practice for sustainable living, Ian researches, writes and teaches to forward global policy shift around sustainability and economic development. An associate of the Green Alliance and the British-German Environment Forum, he is a fellow and coordinator in the Sustainable Lifestyles Research Group at University of Surrey.

Stan Deetz, PhD

Stan is a Professor in the Graduate School of Communication and a President's Teaching Scholar at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  He is Director of the Center for the Study of Conflict, Collaboration and Creative Governance and the Peace and Conflict Studies Program. He is also a Founding Fellow and Managing Director for Institutional Change in the CU Center for STEM Learning.

Seleyn DeYarus

Seleyn is CEO of Best Organics, Inc., a leading online provider of organic gifts and a certified B Corporation. She is also Executive Director of At the Epicenter, an interactive speaker series and educational forum for business leadership, focusing on innovation and sustainability. 

Bob Dunham, MS

As founder of Enterprise Performance and the Institute for Generative Leadership, Bob consults and lectures internationally on leadership and mastering professional management. His book, The Innovator’s Way-Essential Practices for Successful Innovation, is available on MIT Press.

Jenna Fitch, MBA

As a community and conference content manager for New Hope Natural Media, Jenna is responsible for bringing together the innovative and ever-inspiring good food community. With global food security, agricultural advances and food renegades top-of-mind, she is always looking for new ways to collaborate and educate across industries.

Hazel Henderson

Hazel Henderson is a futurist and an economic iconoclast tireless in her efforts to inspire a better future. Hazel has advocated for a socially responsible economy through Ethical Markets Media, LLC, and by establishing the "value" of such unquantifiables as clean air and clean water through the development of the Calvert-Henderson Quality of Life Indicators.

Ellis Jones, PhD

As a scholar of social responsibility, global citizenship, ethical consumerism and everyday activism, Ellis is the award-winning, best-selling author of The Better World Shopping Guide and The Better World Handbook.

Beth Krensky, PhD

Beth is an associate professor of art education and the Area Head of Art Teaching at the University of Utah. She is an artist, activist and educator whose work is recognized widely throughout the United States and internationally.

Kellie McElhaney, PhD

As the founding executive director of the Center for Responsible Business at the University of California at Berkeley, Kellie helped the Haas School of Business earn the rank of #1 in the world in corporate responsibility.

Malini Mehra

An award-winning civil society leader and social entrepreneur from India, Malini founded the Centre for Social Markets, and currently serves as the CEO of GLOBE International Secretariat.

Marisa Rivera, MS

A social entrepreneur and former President of the National Hispana Leadership Institute, Marisa is currently President of Mpowerment Works and serves on the Board of Directors for World Pulse.

Shana Rapoport, MA

Brian Luke Seaward, PhD

Kartikeya Singh, MESc

Founder of the Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN) and former consultant with the Environmental Defense Fund, Kartikeya is currently a PhD candidate at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy and works for the US Department of Energy.  He is also a doctoral research fellow at the Center for International Environment and Resource Policy.

Charles Wright, JD

A creative, strategy-driven leader, Charles served as a leadership team member at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and currently works as the deputy superintendent of Seattle Public Schools.
